An Evening with the Girls
As you may or may not know, I am a full time teacher and so is my wife. We both want to be stay at home parents and our immediate goal is to have her be a stay at home mom with in the year. I want to be a stay at home dad with in the next three years.
Why would I want to run a home based business? So I can stay at home and help raise my children. Let me give you an example of a typical day in my house now.
I get up at 5:30 AM and I start my work day at 7:05 AM. Yeah, the life of a high school teacher starts very early. I spend the next 7.5 hours of the day teaching and dealing with hundreds of teenagers with major attitude problems. Let me tell you, I am not a morning person and I do not really get moving until about 10. Luckily for me, I have only 2 classes in the first half of my day.
Anyway, once my teaching duties are done and return home and I can spend a few hours with my children. Over the past week, it is mid March 2009, and spring is in the air and yesterday I had my two daughters outside and we played soccer. It was great. I was totally amazed at how well my oldest girl dribbled a soccer ball. She was kicking the ball while running with it.
My middle child did well, but she kept trying to pick the ball up. Still being relatively new to fatherhood, I told her she was not allowed to use her hands to touch the ball. Well, she started to bend down at the waist and tried to move the the ball with her forearms. I quickly told her that she was not allowed to use her arms to move the ball. I will have to try catching with a glove on with her.
After all of that activity, it was time to start the evening routine. If you are a good parent, you have set routines for raising your children. During this time, the two oldest get changed into their jammies, have a snack and watch “their show”. Recently they have been watching some real old time cartoons such as the Chan Clan and Yogi Bear.
As my wife gets the girls ready for bed and takes care of the snacks, I get to hang out with Captain Shang. That is the nickname my oldest girl gave to her baby brother. He is nearly 6 months old and is just starting to role over on his own. After parenting three children, I can see that he is developing the urge and muscles to start crawling. It is so awesome to watch you kids grow up and learn such simple but necessary skills.
After taking the girls to bed, my wife and baby boy go to bed and I can finally get to create some content for my blog!
