Being Dad

Well, tonight I realized how hard it is to be MOM in a house with toddlers. Here’s the deal. We have three beautiful children. Two girls and a boy. You have to understand, the kids have been sick and it has been quite a chore keeping all the kids alive over the past few days.
It was at bed time that I realized the power I have over my children. It was crazy too see my middle girl hide behind mom when I gave her the “look”. At this point I stopped and was like wow, my baby girl is afraid of me. Then, after she went to bed and I started my eBay research, I started to think about how my little girl ran and hid from me. Was this good?
I am not real sure if it is a good thing that she is afraid of me? As she gets older and more mature, I am going to have to learn how to talk to her. Am I ready to take that leap?
I am not sure weather or not I will be able to reason with her. She is so strong willed and so strong. Oh my goodness is she strong. She will hang on me like a monkey. Literally, she will hang on my arm and will not let go of me. She will hold on for long time. Long enough that I would get tired before she will. Mind you she only weighs about 30 pounds or so. I can carry her for quite a long time.
That reminds me of when I worked concrete one summer. Man, did I learn a lot. I learned how to make a form and move stuff. I could probably lay cinder block, but it would be tough on my hands and neck.
Anyway, back to being mom. My wife is up stairs dealing with our baby boy. He would no calm down for me earlier. She took him and a few minutes later is was calm and sleeping in is swing. I wonder if she is cleaning his nose? Or she worried about his chest? I wish I knew what was wrong with the little guy. I really hope that he is okay.
I do not know how my wife deals with all of the kids and their constant screaming and need for attention. So, I went up and made dinner tonight, you know to give mom a break from making dinner. It was the famous Chinese chicken night.
- It is about 1 pound of chicken,
1 can of bamboo shoots sliced,
1 can of water chestnuts sliced,
1.5 c fresh broccoli,
0.5 c fresh baby carrots,
0.5 c honey teriyaki,
1-3 packages of ramen noodles
First, I cube chicken and fry it in my honey teriyaki sauce until the chicken is done. I drain any of the extra sauce out and add the remaining ingredients. Cook until the carrots and broccoli are starting to cook. At this point the broccoli should be real green. Add the reaming sauce and cook. Remember to stir. Put on water for the ramen noodles. Heat the water to a boil and add the noodles. I prefer to crunch mine up a good bit, but hey to each their own. Mix the ramen and the boiled water. Stir and let sit for 3 minutes. Drain the water of off the ramen noodles and mix the flavoring on the steaming noodles. If you are like my family, then you will be making multiple packages. If you are doing this I have found it best to mix each flavoring package separately. It just seems to distribute the flavoring better than adding them all at the same time.
I am very thankful for my wife and I am going to give her a blog that she approves. It has been a crazy St. Valentine’s Day to say the least. We had our first date in several weeks. Heck, it has probably been months. Anyway, I am going to go install my wife’s blog theme. I might even design her a graphic. Photoshop something for her.
