Website Traffic
I am currently learning how to drive traffic to websites. The overall goal for me to drive traffic to any website is to make money! I have started this blog as a place to share my thoughts on what I learn as I grow into a full time internet marketer.
As I learn what it takes to drive targeted traffic to a web site, web page or even a blog, I am taking notes and want to share some of what I learn with the world.
If you want to make money online and you want to work from home you are going to need to develop traffic to your content. You could have the BEST original content on your website, but without consistent and interested visitors, you CANNOT reap the rewards.
Marketing the internet is a business and the best advice I can give you is to study your competition. All of the research that you will do will based on the content of you website and the keywords people will use to find your website on the Internet. So, before you read on you must keep in the back of your mind: what keywords are my potential customers going to search for?
To get a feel for your competition, you will want to start with a simple google.com search and enter you keywords. Once the results appear, look at the paid advertising spots (sponsored links). These appear along the top and along the right hand side of the page. Make note of them and track them over time. You should do this search once a week and make note of any changes in the sponsored ads.
Why? Well, for the most part, the successful ad campaigns will continue to spend their money advertising in these spots, while the businesses that are not earning money will usually drop that part of their spending because it has not been providing a good return on their investment.
Once you have your list compiled with a couple of weeks worth of data to compare, start looking at the sites that remain on the list and take notes on their content, ads placement of the and how the site looks and feels. This will give you a feel of what a successful site looks like and you now have some examples to model your site after. I am NOT saying copy these sites, but you can gather information and ideas from them.
Until next time.
